St. Farnan's intermediate team were crowned Benson Cup champions on Saturday last following a ten points to nine points win over Owenmore Gaels in Scarden. The Cup was presented to captain Mattie Lang by Sligo county board chairman Brendan Leonard. St. Farnan's last won the Cup in 2016. Attention now turns to the league as the team face local rivals St. Pat's in Templeboy on Sunday. Our Junior team have their first outing in Division 4 of the league on Saturday against Coolaney/ Mullinabreena in Templeboy at 7 pm.
What a week it has been for our hurlers! On Saturday James Weir captained Sligo senior hurling team to their second win in the Nicky Rackard championship. James then played with our intermediate team in the Benson Cup final. He is to be commended for his dedication to both club and county.
On Wednesday last our u17 hurlers with Sligo defeated Donegal in the Celtic Challenge and Fionn Connolly picked up the Best and Fairest Award. On Sunday the team defeated Leitrim. Best wishes to Shane Molloy, Thomas Cawley and Fionn Connolly against Roscommon on Wednesday in Scarden at 7.30pm.
There was no joy for our county footballers Patrick O'Connor and Eamonn Kilgannon or for junior player Ciaran O'Connor on Sunday against Galway despite their best efforts. Commiserations to the lads.
Easkey /St Farnan's u12 football teams had no luck against  very strong St. Molaise Gaels sides on Tuesday last. This Tuesday sees the hurlers in action. On Thursday Easkey/ St Farnan's u14 football team plays St.Molaise Gaels in Templeboy at 7 pm. After the match there will be a Féile meeting of both parents and players in the clubhouse. It is important that all attend. Féile takes place on June 28,29 and 30 so preparations need to be finalised.
Thanks to Mary Kilgannon for organising the child safeguarding course on Wednesday last and to all the coaches who attended.
There will be a club meeting on Friday, May 24 in the clubhouse. Please attend.
A big thank you to Darren Mc Dermott and the Beach Bar for sponsorship of t -shirts for the intermediate team and for refreshments after the Benson Cup final.
