A much changed Easkey team from last years junior heroics were unable to stop a very young Curry side who had a very strong performance from Adrian Marren to calm their nerves.

At the halftime break Curry lead 1-6 v 0-3 after playing with the strong breeze. Easkey took 20 minutes to register a score but would have been happy enough at the break with the deficit as it looked early on that Curry would have the game over by the break. 1-3 in a 7 minute spell from Marren had Curry in a good place - Alan Reilly being fouled for the penalty after being dragged down when going onto a Jason Marren pass. Andrew Kilcullen brought Easkey back into it with a number of frees.

Mikie Gordon who scored Easkey only score from play in the first was having a good game and cut the lead right after the break from a free. A long range free was dropped by Mullen in the Easkey square and Jason Marren was on hand to dummy him and drive to the bottom of the net. Easkey scored the next 3 points and were in total control at midfield with Curry unable to win their own kickout. However the Easkey scores were coming from distance as they failed to penetrate the Curry defence with Stephen Marren acting as sweeper.

In the 46th minute and Easkey having cut the lead to 4 with some very good points from Sloyan and Gordon, an intercepted handpass saw Alan Reilly solo the guts of 80m with 5 Easkey men trying to catch him, he slipped a handpass to Cathal Marren who drove to the roof of the net. He was to add to his goal tally 10 minutes later when Easkey defenders passed directly to Jason Marren about 30 metres from goal, and 2 quick passes later again it was in the roof of the net. Easkey finished with a number of points in the last few minutes but it was not going to be enough. Best for Curry were the Marrens, Adrian and Stephen, Higgins in around the middle and Sweeney. For Easkey Mikie Gordon as in the u21 final earlier in the year kept driving and driving and got support from Kilcullen, Brennan and Sloyan
