This game for a while became a shootout between the Gormans and Niall Murphy however it was the overall application and experience of the seasiders which saw them get through.

The south Sligo side were unstoppable in the first 14 minutes when they scored 1-5 and had also missed 2 very good goal chances with Barry and Gavin Gorman unmarkable at this time. It looked highly unlikely that there would be a Coolera win but they managed to take a strangle hold of midfield and with Niall Murphy scoring frees from all angles in the strong cross wind, by half time it was level 1-5 v 0-8.

Coolaney/Mullinabreena let the game slip from their grasp in the third quarter with Murphy doing the scoring damage with Parkes and Banks providing a lot of support. When Coolaney/Mullinabreena were reduced to 14 Coolera turned the screw. In fairness to the young Mullinabreena side they fought back with Gavin Gorman getting 2 excellent points from play. Coolera were then reduced to 14 (both reds were for 2 yellows) but their cuteness, physicality and having Murphy scoring from play and placed balls meant they were 3 up close to injury time. Karol O'Neill came on and scored a good point and a mishit kickout from this score saw Keelan Cawley drive through and place the ball into the bottom corner of the net to set up a comfortable injury time.

The scoring exploits of Niall Murphy (16, 12f, 145) showed Coolaney/Mullinabreena where they need to work on the next day. When Barry Gorman (1-4)scored his goal it put Mullinabreena 7 up and in fairness the ball just stopped coming into him and Gavin (0-5).
