Played in Enniscrone on Monday with a strong breeze blowing from the town end and squawly showers meant this was not a game for the faint hearted. Gaels started the stronger and had 2 points on the board early from Alan Cawley from play and a free. Coolera responded with Eoin Comerford frees and Colm Parke from play.

Coolera made the goal breakthrough in the 18th minute when a shot was blocked by keeper Fitzsimons but Luke Comerford was on hand to put the visitors 3 up. Gaels responded well with Cawley, O'Grady scoring from play and were unlucky not to goal also. When the half time break arrived Coolera lead by 1-3 v 0-5 and faced a stiff breeze in the second half.

Gaels had levelled within a minute however Kieran Prior pushed the red and white back in front. For the next 10 minutes the lead changed hands but each time it was levelled. However in the 14th minute Aidan Morrison scored a good point from play followed by a 65 from Cawley to put 2 between the sides. Both sides were getting their eye in and Comerford and Morrison traded scores when a long range point attempt ended up in the Gaels net. It may have been a square ball but referee Maher was having none of it. Gaels responded scoring the next 3 points from Morrison, Wade and Cawley to go 2 in front with 5 to play.

Eoin Comerford and Alan Cawley traded frees and going into injury time Coolera won a 65. The instruction was to drop it in and that it was right under the crossbar eluding Fitzsimons and Eoin Comerford hopping for joy. Gaels won the next 2 puckouts and a long ball in was knocked away from Tom Mahon for a 65. Alan Cawley stepped up and drove it through the posts.

It was an excellent second half. As with most draws both teams will feel they had chances to win especially the number of wides both teams hit when playing with the wind.
