The Belfry SFC SF Tourlestrane 2-19 v Shamrock Gaels 0-7

Unfortunately the second game at Markievicz turned out to be a huge anti-climax to the first semi-final. In fact this game could have been called after 10 or 15 minutes. The slow build up play of Gaels did not help but they looked tired and Tourlestrane never let them settle either. After 4 minutes Tourlestrane lead by 2 points from Leonard and Gaughan, however young Shane Deignan missed a point but also shot wide when he managed to engineer a great chance for himself out of nothing. His finish however undid all the good work he done making the chance.

It would be 25 minutes before Gaels would put a core on the board which was a point from play by Deignan at which point Tourlestrane had moved into an eleven point advantage. A badly hit kickout went straight to John Kelly  who transferred to Liam Gaughan who quickly put Gary Gaughan in with an open goal, after 5 minutes. Points from Kelly, Henry, Leonard and the Gaughan brothers kept the Tourlestrane scoreboard ticking. A Kenny Gavaghan point right after Deignan point was followed by another Tourlestrane goal from Gary Gaughan who finished to an empty net with the half time score of 2-11 v 0-2.

Gaels made 3 substitutions at half time but the game was gone from them at this point. To their credit they got the half off to a good start with scores from Frankie Quinn and Shane Deignan and a free from David Quinn. Tourlestrane had the luxury of running their bench and scores from Brian Egan, Henry, Kelly and Leonard eased them into the final. Dillon McDermott scored a nice point for Gaels near the end but it was unfortunately purely cosmetic.
