Drumcliffe easily snuffed out their neighbours challenge in Markievicz Park on Saturday evening. The Drumcliffe outfit were well drilled and stuck to their game plan. It also helped their cause that Niall Colleary and Paul Logan were able to score from all angles.

Marys never looked liked winners in this game. Stephen Coen was having a bad night on frees but the black card that Johnny Martyn received correctly for his trip when Drumcliffe were through on goal proved more expensive as his team conceded 2-4 whilst he was off the pitch.

That card was the second last act of the first half, with Paul Logan putting over the subsequent free to leave Drumcliffe/Rosses Point 0-6 v 0-3 ahead at the break. The highlight of the half was an exquisite point curled over from the end line by Colleary and an excellent outside of the right point effort from Cian McBride.

In the first 9 minutes of the second half the game was settled with goals coming from Logan and Neil Ewing after great offloads from Colleary and Cian Lally who had an excellent second half. Mary's only made one goal attempt in the second half really but Paul Durcan saved from Mark McGoldrick whereas a crossed ball was palmed over by Stephen Coen .

It was an evening where all loose balls were picked up by Drumcliffe and Mary's also fell into the trap of going for goals too early.
