The second semi-final in Markievicz was not a great affair where the range of passing and free taking of Rory McHugh was the major factor in Easkey turning over at the break after facing the stiff breeze in front. Young Fionn Moylan in at full forward got the sliotar three times into his hand but made maximum use of it scoring two goals.

In the first 10 minutes of the game it could have been 2 goals a piece but whereas Moylan scored his effort the other efforts were diverted for 65's which accounted for the first two scores for Western Gaels with Aidan Morrison popping over with the wind at his back. Bernard Feeney and Dónal Hanley both at half back scored points from play for Easkey whilst McHugh was unerring from frees. A long ball in in the 28th minute saw Moylan catch over his head turn and drive to roof of the net. It had the feeling at that point that the game was already won despite Alan Cawley with a quick point reply. When the halftime whistle was blown Easkey were in control leading 2-7 v 0-3.

Gaels did not register their first score of the second half until the 24th minute at which stage Easkey had started emptying the bench. Even without Andy Kilcullen and Joe McHugh, it was possiby not the test they would have wished for before their county final against Naomh Eoin, but the performance of James Weir, Finnian Cawley and Mikie Gordon will have pleased their management and they contributed, 1-6 from play in the half with Cawley adding another goal to Niall Kilcullens effort in the 5th minute of the half. Paul O'Grady and Alan Ferguson added frees for Gaels but Feeney and Cahan Hallinan replied for Easkey who will be on a revenge mission in two weeks time when they play Naomh Eoin.
