A highly anticipated final with the two favourites for the championship making the final it was Curry who prevailed     which saw them win out this highly entertaining game. The whole Intermediate championship has been refreshing in the attacking play and excitement and this game covered all them bases. When the teams met earlier in the league it was a late surge from Gaels that saw them snatch a 1 point win and the drama today was as good despite the 6 point winning margin. In a game that was too hard to call it was a case where Curry had more attacking weapons who performed on the day.

Alan McLoughlin who along with the young Jack Davitt and Joe Keaney kept the fight going all day scored the first of the day from play. Mark Quinn took the fisted point option in the 4th minute to put Gaels two up. It only took Curry two minutes to level with Oisín Murphy scoring from play and Red Óg Murphy curling over a close in free. In the 10th minute Adrian Marren got his first from play and was quickly followed by brother Jason scoring from an acute angle. In the 13th minute Red caught a ball on the 20m line and turned towards goal, when approached by three defenders laid off to Jason Marren who threw a dummy and struck the ball across the goal into the side netting. Molaise were stunned and the water break allowed them to take a hold on things and McLoughlin hit two frees and Davitt scored from play. Curry could not win a kickout at this time losing six in a row but following a dispossession in their square they drove upfield where Ado Marren put over the bar and he quickly followed with a free. McLoughlin responded with a Gaels free and at the break it was 1-6 v 0-6, Jason Marrens goal the difference.

From the throw in Eoin McHugh pointed after a good interchange of passes from Davitt and Keaney. McHugh followed with another from play and the Gaels jumped in front when they were correctly awarded a penalty and McLoughlin sent the keeper the wrong way when hitting the top left corner of the goal. However a possible turning point was from the subsequent kickout Gaels won a 25 metre free which dropped just under the crossbar where Michael Gordon and Oisín Higgins drove out of defence and finished with a handpass to Marren who put an end to the Gaels scoring with a nice point from play. Alan Reilly moved inside for a number of minutes and got himself two points from play along with Adrian Marren and Red points, Curry were in command.

Again the water break came at the right time for Gael and young Davitt got a nice score from play but Marren responded .A black card for Molaise did not help their cause and further compunded then Murphy struck two frees from the ground which were as good as will be seen anywhere this year. The Curry goal had a few hairy moments in the last 4 minutes where McLoughlin hit a pile drive and took two or three deflections from defenders to go for a 45. Joe Keaney scored a point but it was too late and the scenes of joy at the end saw what it meant to Curry who wore the name of their former manager JP Duffy on the backs of their jerseys and joint captains David "Zuby" McDonagh and James Walsh were joined by young Cian Duffy to raise the cup.

Red Óg was awarded the player of the match with Adrian Marren a very close contender.
