On what was a relatively quiet week on the field of play, our U.17 GSTM Lads had no less than two league games in the space of four days, their first opponents were Tubbercurry /Cloonacool on Thursday evening last, despite the fact that our lads kicked 3.12 they still ended up on the losing side. Like in a lot of their games it’s the number of goals scored that proved decisive, four goals in the 2nd quarter of the game put paid to any chance of our lads winning, despite this they never gave up the ghost, as is their trademark, they were back to within three scores of their amalgamated opponents, but tuber / Cloonacool upped the ante again to emerge victorious.

The Lads second game on the week took place in Pairc Ailbhe on Sunday evening last with Naomh Moliase Gaels in opposition, not for the first time our lads were faced with a bigger more physical side, however not for the first time either they battled to the final whistle but unfortunately ended up on the wrong end of a 5.6 to 2.9 score line.

Despite the fact that ourselves and neighbours St Michaels’s are amalgamated at the age bracket, our match day panel usually adds up to 14 or 15 and this includes no fewer than 6 or 7 U.15’s. Great credit to our lads who never spared anything in effort during these games, it’s all a learning curve! Keep the faith lads!!

Our U.16’s girls final against Owenmore Gaels on Wednesday evening last, was abandoned just before half time after a serious clash of heads involving a player from both sides.

Speedy recovery to our centre half back Louise Dowd who was concussed as a result.

Best wishes also to the Owenmore Gaels player involved.

No Date had being fixed for the re match.

Our U.15 GSTM Lads have qualified for the “B” Championship semi-final after a 2.15 to 1.10 victory over Calry/ St Joseph’s on Monday evening last.

Played in Ballintogher, our lads lead from first to last whistle with a goal in either half from Jamie and Dara, they now away to Tubbercurry / Clonnacool on Sunday next.

Our U.14 Girls suffered a championship defeat away to a much stronger Ballisodare on Monday last. Our girls were down a few players through injury but were however beaten by a better team on the night.

Our U.11 Boys played their final game of the season away to St Michael’s last week, well done to all the players and thanks to their coaches James & Justin for their efforts over the season.

Thanks to Killoran’s Gala (Ballyfarnon) who provide treats to our U.7’s & U.9’s mixes teams for the final game of the year, much appreciated.
