Our amalgamated GSTM U.15 boys kept their season alive with an exciting and deserved victory over Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in the “B” Championship on Sunday evening last. Played in Kilcoyne Park, our lads were very sluggish in the opening quarter, with their only score coming from Conor O’Donovan, our lad’s opponents kicked 1.3 in the same period to put them well in the driving seat. Our lads kept plugging away and outscored their opponents in that 2nd quarter to go in at half time trailing by two points (0-05 to 1.04). Our lads scores coming from Kyle, Dara and Jamie.

The second half started a lot brighter than the first for GSTM, the first goal of wing forward Jamie Brehony’s second half hat trick arrived in the 3rd minute of the second half after good work from Harry, Cathal and James. A second goal followed quickly on the heels of the first with substitute Jake Clancy rattling the net to put our lads 2.05 to 1.04 ahead.

Tubber/ Cloonacool to their credit hit back with a fine goal of their own to bring the game back to a single point, two points in quick succession from Dara and another from Jamie put our boys seven points clear before our opponents ended the third quarter by scoring by kicking a point from play to leave the score at 2.08 to 2.05 in favour of GSTM.

The majority of the fourth and final quarter belonged to our lads, spurred on by some fantastic romances all over the field from our lads, our hat trick hero Jamie scored two goals and 2 points in that final quarter to end the game as a contest, centre forward Dara chipped in with some fine points from play and placed balls, a fantastic point from a “50” from midfielder Conor

being another of the many highlights during the game.

This victory sets up an U.15 “B” Championship Final date with St Pat’s who defeated Owenmore Gaels impressively in the other semi-final.

Our Senior ladies began Sunday last on a winning note, by defeating Tourlestrane in the Championship. A 4.10 to 3.07 winning score line was an impressive one in difficult underfoot conditions.

Our GSTM U.13 lads were defeated by a much stronger Eastern Harps side in their Shield Final on Thursday evening last. Thanks to all who helped make their season such an enjoyable success.

Congratulations to Mairead and Dermot who were married at the weekend, we wish them many years of health & happiness together.

Sympathy is extended to the Enda Mc Cormack and the extended Mc Cormack and Mc Keon families on the passing of their brother Pascal, Kilmactranny.
