Our adult men’s teams were pitted against Ballymote Round Towers in both of their league fixtures this past weekend. First up were the senior men who played out a 1.09 each draw on Saturday evening. Played in Pairc Ailbhe in changeable conditions our lads lead for more of the first half before a converted penalty for our opponents left the half time score at 1.04 to 1.03 in favour of the visitors. Both sides swapped points in a hard hitting second half and a draw was probably the fairest result on the night. Final score 1.09 each.

Our lads have 4 points from their opening four games in the league.

Speedy recovery to keeper Darren who picked up an injury early in the first half.

Our Junior Lads were in league action on Sunday morning last. Their Round 4 game was an exciting affair, played in Pairc Ailbhe, our lads opponents were five point up at one stage midway through the first half, the evergreen Liam Mc Donagh began the comeback for our lads with a goal to reduce the margin.

The half time score was 1.01 to 1.05 in favour of Ballymote Round Towers. Geevagh started the brighter in the 2nd half and bombarded our opponents’ goal for the first ten 2nd half mins, second half goals from Diarmuid and Daniel as well as points from Paul O’Reilly and Muiris Flynn saw our lads emerge victorious on a 3.09 to 2.08.

After four league game our lads have four league points (2 wins & 2 losses).

Their next fixture is away to Bunninadeen on the weekend of June 25th / 26th…

Training for our Adult Men’s teams is on Tuesday & Friday nights at 8pm.

Our U.13 GSTM play Enniscrone / Kilglass in the League semi-final this Monday June 13th in Pairc Ailbhe at 6.30pm.

Our GSTM U.15 side play Easkey / St Farnan’s in the Shield Final in Scarden on Thursday next at 7pm.

Best of luck to Pat, Donal and the Sligo Senior Squad for their Tailteann Cup semi-final clash with Cavan in Croke Park on Sunday next.

Sympathy is extended to Club Chairperson Louise Lavin and the extended Conlon Families on the passing of Vincent Conlon, Letterkenny.

Best of Luck to GSTM U.15 player Alex Smith who is part of the Sligo/ Leitrim U.14 Kennedy Cup Soccer squad who competed this week at UL.
