Hard luck to our 13 boys who lost out to a strong St Mary's team in the C League Cup Final last Friday evening. Final score was St Patrick's: 1-10 - St Mary's: 5-11. Panel for the final was Jamie Boland, Freddie Dennison, Cian McMunn, Daithí Carney, Sean Kelly, Jayden Gilligan, Matthew O'Grady, Manus McManus, Daniel Connolly, Liam Coll, Enda Kilcullen, Diarmuid Clarke, Evan Barrett O'Neill, Corey McLoughlin, Fiachra Clarke.
Our men's team played out a draw with familiar foes St Michael's on a wet & windy Saturday evening in Round 5 of the Division 3 league. Final score - St Patrick's: 2-09 - St Micheal's: 2-09. Team on duty was Joe Curran, Enda Clarke, James Kearins, Joe McMunn, Darragh Williams, Conor Kevany, David Giblin, James Clarke, Connell Kearins, Ciarán Giblin, Pierce Kearins, Cathal Finneran, Oisin Kevany, Padraic Clarke, Jim Davis, Martin Clarke, Donal Brady, Jimmy Kilgallen & Tomás McMunn. The lads wore our new away jerseys on Saturday, we would like to thank our Chairman Gerard Clarke for sponsoring the jerseys. Anyone interested in buying the jersey can do so via our Club Shop on the O’Neills website. Next up for our men's team is an away trip to St John's on Friday evening, July 1st with throw in at 8pm.
Our junior team had no league game at the weekend as Owenmore Gaels could not field and forfeited the points. Our junior team have now qualified for the Division 4B league final. Time, date & venue TBC.
Fixtures
Our ladies' team are back on the field this week after the June break with a Division 4 home game versus St Nathy's on Tuesday, July 5th with 7.45pm throw in.
Intermediate & Junior B Championship
The draw for the Connacht Gold intermediate championship was held last Monday with St Patrick's been drawn in Group 1 alongside Molaise Gaels, Geevagh, Ballymote & Eastern Harps. We will take on Ballymote in the first round on the weekend of 13/14 August. The Connacht Gold Junior B championship draw saw us drawn in Group 1 alongside Coolera/Strandhill, St Farnans, Geevagh & Coolany/Mullinabreena. The Junior Bs will take on Geevagh away in the first round on the weekend of 13/14 August.
Well done to the Sligo U16s & our own Evan Finnerty, who started the game corner back, on their win over Clare on Sunday in round 3 of the Manning Cup. Final score was Sligo: 3-17 - Clare: 1-06(9)
Congrats to local woman Lauren Cadden who produced a sensational run on Saturday in the Irish Life Health National Senior Track & Field Championships at Santry to win the women’s 200 metres title.
Congratulations to ladies team coach and former St Pats men's player Enda McTiernan and his wife Aoife on recent birth of their baby girl.
