It wasn’t to be
for our U21 Men’s team on Sunday as they battled hard in the rain-swept Kent
Park against a hungry Ballymote/Bunninadden side. While we opened the scoring,
we found ourselves three points down at halftime 0-05 to 0-08. The second half
saw us playing with the wind, but it was Ballymote/Bunninadden who got the
first score, a point, swiftly followed by a goal, leaving us chasing the game
for the remainder of the half. A clean game, played in good spirits by two
teams who have become very familiar with each other over the years, today was
to be Ballymote/Bunninadden’s day; they were deserving of their win and the
2022 U21 A Championship title, and well done to them.
Final score:
Ballymote/Bunninadden 2-14, Molaise Gaels 1-09.
Most of today’s
U21 team are still involved in the club’s remaining campaign of the season, our
Connacht Club Intermediate Quarter Final next Saturday in Tuam Stadium against
Galway Intermediate Champions, Dunmore McHales, and it is to that game that
attentions now turn. Well done to the lads on making another final and for your
training and commitment to your club and teams over the season. We now look
forward to next Saturday and see where that may take us.
