Our Intermediate team will play a historic first game under lights at Quigabar this coming Saturday evening, 4th March, when they take on Ardnaree Sarsfields in a challenge game. This will be a momentous occasion for everyone involved at the club and great credit to all who helped achieve this wonderful feat. Throw in is at 7.15pm.

There will be a medal presentation to our U15 team and our Minor team by the well decorated Kerry great and former RTE Gaelic football pundit, Pat Spillane, following, at approximately 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the new clubhouse.

The dates for the West Division Spring League have been announced with round one due to be played on the weekend of April1/2. More details later.

Best of luck to Ethan Carden and the Sligo U20 team, and also John Paul Carden, selector, who take on Derry away in Owenbeg on Saturday next, in round 3 of the Leo Murphy Cup Development League.

Congratulations to Eoin Tuffy, who is named as the Sligo Minor Team captain, and to Niall Duffy and Shane Murphy who are also in the squad. Their first outing against Cavan didn’t go too well but hopefully better luck to come. Wishing them and their teammates all the best for the season ahead.

Our Ireland Lights Up walking initiative finished up last Monday evening. Thanks to everyone who came out over the seven weeks to participate. Thanks also to all who took part in the Irish Life MyLife app to walk 4,000 km collectively and win the right to be included in the Connacht draw.

Congrats to club stalwart, former secretary and president, John P Mullaney who celebrated his 85th birthday recently. We wish him many more to come and with good health.
